Sony FS7 user: Power. All day. One battery. It's amazing. (1 year and change review)

I'm here to get more of these great batteries after a year and change of no issues and feel compelled to write this review to benefit you and hopefully keep D&O around longer (which would benefit me/all of us).

I use two of these 190Wh gold mount batteries with my Sony FS7 mark i. That camera's rated at 19Wh draw so one of these batteries lasts me ALL DAY. I don't keep the camera on for long breaks like meals and often out of habit I turn it off when doing major set changes. Otherwise I keep it running and literally use one battery per day (on 11 to 12 hour days). The second battery is usually a 3 lb stress reliever because I'm always thinking "budget" options will bail at some point. In my case that's never happened. I've shot 1-2 hour long interviews (way too long I know; I wasn't in charge on those shoots) with a g series servo lens, Smallhd monitor, and 48 phantom to a shotgun all running off one of these batteries and had no issues. It's also a great counterweight when rocking the FS7 on my shoulder. I recently shot a docuseries over 4 days and used one per day and maybe one of the days I had to swap, but I might even be making that up.

I haven't noticed any loss in capacity during my experience with them. However I should add that I'm somewhat early in my career so on average I'm getting 1-2 gigs per week (which are each usually 1-2 days long). But I imagine if you're here, you're also early in your career and maybe can relate.

For additional context, I'm using them with a random DIY gold mount adapter for the FS7 I found on Ebay that has 4 extra D-tap ports. There are others with USB ports so if that's important for you get one of those instead! You don't want to be plugging anything into the battery directly because when you [eventually] swap batteries, would you rather unplug everything from the battery and then have to plug them back into the new one or leave everything plugged in to the mount/adapter and just swap the battery? I also put together my own adapter to use with the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K (yes, the old one from 2013). Also powers that guy all day (~8 hours) and that's a power guzzler due to the global shutter and b-raw.

So this is my experience. If you're on the edge about getting them, trust me you're not sacrificing quality to save money. You're just saving money. Get these with confidence! And good luck on your journeys in this field.

Great alternative battery for Gold Mount

Only had this a week or so, but so far very decent. The gold mount is slightly loose on an Anton Bauer branded battery plate, but of course doesn't get knocked off like a V-mount battery would- due to the basic design..I am charging the battery with a Shape branded 4 bank simultaneous charger. I just ordered 3 more batteries. Biggest problem by far- these things are always out of stock. Waiting on back order shipment again...

Best batteries ive used

Not sure how they are different but i love these batteries. Havent noticed any power loss after 2+ years on my 160Wh so hoping these 190s are the same.
